🐟 “Taste of the Danube” Festival – A Celebration of Tradition, Music, and Great Food near the Village of Mechka
On 6 June, the Stalpishte area near the village of Mechka will host the first edition of the “Taste of the Danube” Festival—a new and inspiring event celebrating the rich traditions of the Danube region, authentic local cuisine, and live music. The festival promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
The initiative is organised by Aleksandar Gadzhanov (SEVER SUN Ltd.) in partnership with the Mechka Mayor’s Office. Its main objective is to create a community celebration that promotes local culture and showcases the unique atmosphere of the Danube riverside.
🎶 What to Expect
The programme begins at 10:00 a.m. with musical performances by the duo Maria & Spartak. Throughout the day, visitors will enjoy:
- More than 500 free servings of traditional fish soup, prepared by chefs Tsarina Ivanova and Ivaylo Ivanov;
- Fresh Danube fish grilled on-site;
- An acoustic concert by Soda A’coustic, featuring Bulgarian and international rock classics;
- Performances by local community cultural groups;
- A folk dance gathering with amateur dance ensembles from across Bulgaria.
💃 The highlight of the festival will be a live concert by Reni, followed by an open-air folk dance party accompanied by a traditional folk orchestra.
The festival is not a competition. Instead, it aims to encourage cultural exchange, provide a stage for local talent, and bring together people of all generations through a shared celebration of the Danube’s heritage.
🌊 The organisers hope that “Taste of the Danube” will become an annual tradition and a landmark event for the region, attracting visitors from across Bulgaria and neighbouring Romania.
