An Extraordinary General Assembly of the public benefit non-profit association “Local Fisheries Action Group Ruse – Ivanovo – Borovo (FLAG Ruse – Ivanovo – Borovo)” was held today at the Ruse Municipality building. The Association was established within the framework of the project “Preparatory Activities for the Establishment of the Local Fisheries Action Group (FLAG) Ruse Municipality – Ivanovo Municipality – Borovo Municipality and the Development of a Community-Led Local Development Strategy for the 2021–2027 Programming Period.” The meeting was opened by the Mayor of Ruse and Chairperson of the Association, Pencho Milkov.

“This strategic document is of exceptional importance for the fisheries community, and its approval by the next competent authority will be crucial for our future actions,” Mayor Milkov told the participants. He also encouraged them to submit their project ideas in the coming months in order to further strengthen the implementation of the Strategy.

During the meeting, the draft Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) Strategy of FLAG Ruse – Ivanovo – Borovo was presented. The Strategy was developed on the basis of surveys, questionnaires, and analyses identifying the needs and ideas of representatives of the fisheries community, as well as other stakeholders, including the fish processing industry and the local tourism sector. These findings will serve as the foundation for future project proposals.

Following the discussion, the draft Strategy was unanimously adopted by all members of the Association present at the meeting.

The project is implemented under Procedure No. BG14MFPR001-3.001 “Capacity Building and Preparatory Actions in Support of the Development and Future Implementation of Community-Led Local Development Strategies” within the framework of the Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme 2021–2027, financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).
